Our school has received a grant from NRMA as part of their School Safety Programme. We have been given $2500 to develop and implement a plan to promote Road Safety in our school.
We have chosen to use an area on second level to paint a mock town street plan, complete with buildings, roads and footpaths. The High School has volunteered to paint our mini town, following the plan which has been developed in conjunction with the Kids n Traffic Department. We will then incorporate traffic features such as pedestrian crossings, stop signs, give way and a roundabout into our town.
We will then develop and run a series of lessons for all grades, where students will use our town plan, bringing in their bikes, scooters etc to reinforce safe travel practises.
